Description

80% Suri Alpaca and 20% Cormo Sheep. Farm Grown Yarn. For five years now I have been combining alpaca and cormo fleeces to get my best yarn. This is definitely one of the best. It is gorgeous - creamy white, silky, super soft with just the right amount of wool to give it spring and memory. Stonehedge fiber mill in northern Michigan cleaned and spun the combined fleeces for me and and did a super, great job. Thank you to the sweet sheep who lives at Mary Parks' farm in Pleasantville, Iowa, (Still Water Fiber Farm - https://www.facebook.com/StillwaterFiberFarm) The white Suri fleece was purchased from a friend here in Michigan. When my yarn comes from the mill, I like to wash it myself so that I can double check that it is clean and free of any unwanted VM. In the last picture, you can see some hanging on the line. Before I wash the skeins, I tie them in 4 places so that I don't tangle them during hand washing. I will leave the ties on in case you want to dye them. This yarn takes dye beautifull This is an amazing yarn. I immediately put away the knitting that I was working on so that I could try this out. Oh, my, it's a delightful experience. I have happy hands. The next to the last picture shows a scarf that I knit with this yarn. And here is a line to that scarf - https://www.etsy.com/listing/280243742/knit-scarf-handmade-alpaca-scarf-womens?ref=shop_home_active_1 The really nice thing about this fiber combination is that it's natural wool, of course, but adding the soft Cormo to my Alpaca creates the ideal yarn. It's soft, bouncy, and has memory so that it shouldn't stretch out like some pure Alpaca yarn does. Suri alpaca has the straight locks that are smooth. This yarn is definitely silky smooth. Approximately 250 yards/228 meters - 3.5 ounces/100 grams - 2 ply - 12 wraps per inch - heavy DK to Worsted Weight Let me know if you want this wound into a center pull ball. I would be happy to do that for you. ..................................
